Sandra Elaine Spencer, 60, of Kennett Square died Tuesday, June 10.Born in Wilmington, she was the daughter of the late Leon R. Spencer Sr. and the late Louella Hazzard Spencer.
A 1966 graduate of Kennett High School, she received a bachelor of theology degree from the Boulden Seminary in Wilmington as well as certification from its Evangelistical Training Association.
She was a quarterly conference assignee of the Hutchinson Memorial U.A.M.E. Church in Coatesville. She had been employed as a sales clerk for Sunrise Cleaners in Hockessin, Del., and for Parkway Cleaners in Kennett Square and Lionville. Her most recent employment was with Krapf Coaches as a school bus driver in the Kennett Consolidated School District. Despite never being married or having children of her own, her greatest passion was driving her children to school.
She is survived by her brother, Leon R. Spencer Jr. and his wife, Kathryn, of Kennett Square; an aunt, Marylou Spencer of Wilmington; an uncle, Stanley K. Hazzard of Chatham; and a host of cousins and friends.
Her funeral was Saturday, June 14, at the Hutchinson Memorial U.A.M.E. Church, Coatesville. Interment was in the Union Hill Cemetery.
